Can Success Be Ensured?

Can Investors Predict Success?

If an investor can predict success, their name can be written in the history books. If they make the wrong decision, they are one step closer to their downfall.

What is Predictive Validity

Predictive validity refers to how likely it is for test scores, personality tests and the like to predict a future outcome. Predictive validity is used mostly for job placement or compatibility, and it can be used in the business world.

Why Shark Tank?

While there is much success amongst the Sharks, who are worth billions of dollars, there have been various pitfalls in their investing decisions. Sometimes, their internal checklist is wrong and they end up passing up on the wrong deal. Each week, I will be exploring the successes and failures of the companies the Sharks have passed on and where they are today. Through doing this, I hope to discover the measures the Sharks use to determine if a business is worth their investment or not.

I chose to make the focus of my blog Shark Tank for various reasons. The main one being the genuine interest I found in the show. Growing up, I always found myself watching Shark Tank with my parents and constantly waiting for new episodes to air. The products and stories of all the people who were brave enough to step in front of the Sharks intrigued me. The show made me wonder how the Sharks decide to invest or not and how they always seem to be successful. As I was faced with these questions, I then began to wonder about the failures. Not every business could’ve been a success. My curiosity has led me to question how the Sharks decide where to put their money, and it has pushed me to gravitate towards exploring the businesses they didn’t invest in and where they are today.

“To deny the predictive validity of race at this level is nonscientific and unrealistic.”
